Sailing with Captain Mike was one of the best Christmas gifts I could have ever given my husband. From the moment we stepped onto the boat, it was as if my family had known Mike for years. His boat was at our beckon, and he trusted his instinct to advocate for both my teenage daughter and husband to steer the boat as he whipped up drinks to please everyone’s palette. Our sunset was beyond spectacular and our girls loved the beanbag chairs as a mode of chillaxin’ during the Golden Hour. Mike’s comfort level in sharing his experiences living on the island for over 20 plus years reads like a novel you dare not put down but that’s exactly what makes STJ an island my family embraces and cherishes each and every year.
Great time, great service, relaxing and a beautiful sunset. Definitely will book again!! Capitan Mike and Kara are great

I booked this trip maybe two or three weeks before we left on a surprise trip for my girlfriend. I called Mike two days before the sail to just confirm the reservation.
While on the phone, Mike told me about the COVID-19 restrictions imposed by the government and how it forced him to change the tours that were offered. I cannot express this enough that this was 100% outside of his control and he was nothing short of accommodating with me in changing my reservation to a private sunset sail. I told him that I was planning on proposing at some point during the trip and Mike went out of his way to make it one of the most memorable evenings.
Between Mike's excellent bartending skills and at the soon-to-be steady and confident hands of his young first mate Ian, my now fiancée and I had a wonderful evening of snorkeling and watching the sun set over the beautiful islands.
Before I even wrote this, I had already reccomended Mike to several people and I would strongly encourage anyone who wants to take an island tour aboard a beautiful locslly-owned sailboat to sign up for a reservation with Mike - and don't forget to try his twist on Lime in da coconut.

Great sunset tour with Morningstar

I was looking for a special charter to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday on our first visit to St. John. Decided to go with Morningstar because I wanted the sailing experience. Capt. Mike didn't disappoint! I had booked a private sunset sail. Capt. Mike was very responsive during the process and provided all the information I needed tp prepare for our trip. The sail was great and he actually taught my wife how to handle the boat once we were out sailing. She loved it! Mike was very knowledgeable about St. John and the surrounding islands. I could not have asked for a better experience. I would definitely recommend Morningstar Charters and we will book with Capt. Mike when we return to St. John. It was such a peaceful end to a great week sailing on the beautiful Caribbean waters with no motors, just the sound of the wind through the sails.

From the beginning, Captain Mike was punctual, hospitable and fun. My wife and I were treated to a great sail. mike was very knowledgeable of the area, had good advice for follow on recommendations and even gave me the opportunity to steer the sail boat, explaining the do’s and don’ts of sailing. We began our vacation with this trip and I’m glad we did. We would definitely do it again. Mike, Thanks for a memorable outing!
