Golden Hours Sunset cruise

We booked our the Golden Hours sunset cruise for the first full day of our visit to StJohn. It was a great way to see the island and get our bearings for the week ahead. Captain Ryan was a terrific guide and provided a lot of knowledge and insight about STJ like only a local can. Pizzapi was delicious and the owners are wonderful people. Enjoyed eating our slice of pizza while watching the breathtaking sunset. A great start to our week in paradise!

Book the Sunset Cruise with Captain Ryan!

Our family of seven's private Sunset Cruise with Captain Ryan Granger was a highlight of our recent trip to St. John. The boat is clean and comfortable, and Ryan had everything on hand (snorkel gear, iced down waters, a nice speaker system to play our music, even a book on reef fish for our snorkeling enthusiasts) to make for a wonderful evening. Ryan tailored the outing to our tastes, bringing us to two great snorkeling spots (including one where we spotted our first sea turtle!) and a deserted island with two options for cliff jumping for my 25-year-old son (who caught the bug after jumping at Cleetwood Cove in Crater Lake NP last year). He pointed out wild goats on another deserted island as well as other points of interest, such as the abandoned Caneel Bay Resort and Lovango. As a long-time resident, Ryan was knowledgeable about life on St. John and a friendly conversationalist. He texted early the morning of our excursion asking about our dinner preferences so he could place an order with Pizza Pi early in the day. We met up with that boat around 5:45 and enjoyed a great pizza dinner on the water. We spent the last 30 minutes or so of our time cruising through the Caribbean with fantastic sunset views. We would do this again, and if we'd had more time we would've done a full day tour with Island Roots as well. Highly recommend!
One of the best charter experiences ever!

Been to several islands and done several charters, including others in St. John but our trip this time with Island Roots was one of the best experiences weโve had on the water. We did a half day snorkel/sunset that actually picked us up in St Thomas since we were going to ferry over to St John anyways. Captain Jason called us before hand and was super accommodating with the logistics. Captain Ryan was right on time and made us and our teenage daughters feel like VIPs. The boat was fairly new and in excellent condition. Captain Ryan took us to an amazing snorkel spot we had to ourselves and was very informative about the area and the marine life. He then took us to Pizza Pi and timed the sunset perfectly. Truly the highlight of our trip. Canโt wait to book again with Jason and Ryan and Island Roots.
